Type O Negative - Dead Again - SPV Whenever a legend in their own time band releases a record, the world stops for a moment to take notice and this is definitely one of those times. Type O rarely disappoint and with the release of their seventh album, Dead Again, they have proven why they are still around. Dead Again contains the one thing that is a constant in their music, humor. Pete’s dry with comes through quite well in his voice and words and they waste no time in kicking it off with the lead and title track, Dead Again. The line “I Cant Believe I Died Last Night, I’m Fucking Dead Again is possibly the best thing I have heard in a song period. The lyric writing this time is superior and well thought out, great thought provoking pieces, especially if you are of the ilk that thinks off of the edge. The record does take a slower turn as it usually does with the superior September Sun. Possibly the most majestic track that these guys have committed to tape to this date. Kenny’s amazing vocal contribution for the chorus adds shading to the song to bring it further along and into a different void. All Type O records can transport you away and this one does more so for some reason. It is hard to place my finger on it, it just pulls the trigger on a nerve possibly. The sonic subtleness of These Three Things or the old school feel of the riffs to dominate Some Stupid Tomorrow make this a complete record and a complete band for this day and age. Why this band does not enjoy the commercial success that many lesser bands of these times is completely beyond me period. There is something that any metal, industrial or gothic fan can want for something different to hear and they should be heard by everybody, period. If you do not believe the praises then you need to buy the record yourself upon its release date and hear for yourself. I do not know how many people will believe me but this WILL BE THE METAL RECORD OF THE YEAR!!!!!!! 10/10, it does not get better than this, PERIOD. Jeffrey Easton |
