Lillian Axe - Waters Rising -
Locomotive For those who will go out to purchase
this new piece by Lillian Axe expecting 1989 need not bother as you will be
sadly disappointed. What you will find is a thoroughly modern rock
record with amazing harmonies mixed in with Soundgardenish and Alice In Chains
like interludes sewn together with amazing guitar work courtesy of longtime
and only original member Steve Blaze. Steve has taken the band, who have
been without a new record in over a decade well into the new century with a
new look and new sound. I am sure it would be easy for those to
dismiss this as a cash in for some rock revival that is not really happen but
this is actually a rock statement. This is a testament to what can be
done in the realm of catchy songwriting laden with fat hooks and great
singing. The songs presented here are aggressive but yet would not turn
off the casual rock listener. Tracks like Waters Rising, Antarctica and
Fields Of Yesterday are classic in the Lillian Axe vein and if allowed would
easily suck in the early Lillian Axe fan if given the chance. Do I
recommend this CD? Yes I do, I think it is a great listening experience
and the catchy tracks easily draw you in until the end. CD review by Jeffrey Easton
