Adema - Kill The Headlights -
Immortal Adema came along in the post
grunge-alt era and were going to make rock fun again I suppose and that they
did to an extent. For the last several years they have dealt out discs
to a supportive public that have eaten up their brand of energetic rock
designed to sell. Now we have arrived to another juncture in their
career in the form of Kill The Headlights. After a few spins I have come
to the conclusion that they arfe still the same Adema that blasted on the
scene X number of years ago and that is both good and bad. Kill The
Headlights has catchy choruses, great guitars and a crisp production but there
is a few noticeable flaws in the mix. The one big problem to me is that
they seemingly play it safe, not having advanced to far from the first album
because if it sells then keep doing what sells. The other thing that
bothers me is nothing here is to memorable. The songs are well crafted
and again catchy but nothing sticks in my head that makes me want to go back
and play that track again. Just something to put on and play in the
background while you clean the garage out or drink. I am not putting a
spike into what they do, they just need to punch it up and pen something that
grabs you by the throat sinks its claws into your jugular vein. But then
again this is the same group that was advertised on Taco Bell cups a few years
ago so I guess I should expect what I just listened to. If you
just want something to throw in then this is for you, you wont be too
disappointed. Jeffrey Easton
