Joe Satriani - Surfing With The
Alien - Epic/Legacy After 2 decades and 20 + over all
albums, Joe Satriani as nothing to prove but his legacy and that stands on its
on. Joe has dealt multiples of classic instrumental records,
live sets with the G3 line up and now the classic reissue of his climatic
release Surfing With The Alien. Surfing put him on the map with the
massive MTV hit Always With Me Always With You which was seemingly on every
time I turned the channel on. That propelled him into the superstar he
is today and out of the shredder pack that was growing by leaps and bounds
back then. His fluent, effortless style on his guitar turned skeptics in
to fans, his abilities transcended the boxed genre that he started in.
This set includes the original stellar CD along with a special DVD showcasing
his Montreux Jazz Festival set along with his two MTV videos, Satch Boogie and
Always With You Always With Me. The concert is excellent, showcasing his
extreme skills on the guitar in an intimate live setting and he runs through a
great set list that was his first 2 records. There is also an
interview with Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel where he gives his take on Satriani.
As far as reissues goes, this was well worth the wait and it is well worth
plunking down the cash for, an audio and visual orgasm. Buy It Here!: http://www.sonymusicstore.com CD review by Jeffrey Easton
