Schoolyard Heroes - Abominations -
Stolen Transmission To get a truly shocking record in the
so called main stream these days is about as rare as seeing the sun out at 3 am.
With the new Schoolyard Heroes record in hand I can attest to that as I have not
heard something this good be this sick at the same time. The lyrics put
forth by their sensual singing front woman Ryann Donnelly. She splits time
with her silk laden vox to the upper reaches of a chilling scream while holding
the catchiness that leaves most vocalists at this level. Her words
would probably get most people arrested in most situations which makes this a
superb listen while her very bale band back her demands perfectly. This is
almost a dark early 90’s metal approach, dark and evil guitars that spit your
ears and a pounding rhythm section. To say the least, this is a
deliciously disturbing record that will appeal to a broad range of genres.
I can see fans of Pyschobilly as well as industrial and punk coming to this
metal camp for something different. These people are crazy and its nice to
see people loose their minds in such a stale music environment. This will
be in my CD player for a long time to come. CD review by Jeffrey Easton
