Zombie - Zombie Live When you think back to the 90’s and
the insipid grunge filled music scene that prevailed, what was one of the few
glimmers of hope for the diehard metal head? Manson? Pantera?
Megadeth? All of them are good answers but one of the most memorable was
White Zombie, Rob Zombie’s brainchild that grew out of the seedy mid 80’s
in NYC. Though the material that was released in the 80’s never hit
the right chord with the public it was not over as the 90’s were going to go
for the publics throat. Along came La Sexorcisto : Devil Music Vol. 1 and the
90’s were forever changed. It seemed as though they came out of
nowhere and immediately they were the biggest name in metal and Rob even
spent time on the Head Bangers Ball redoing the set in his own imagery.
It was not over as the next CD to be delivered was even bigger than the last.
Astro - Creep: 2000 pushed the envelope even more as the expectations grew for
this meteor of a band. It proved to be the bands swan song as Rob felt
it was time to grow away from the shelter that WS gave him and put his
own name on the line for future projects. The first out of the pipe was
Hellbilly Deluxe and his solo career was born and he continued to put forth
hit after metal hit and slay audiences across America with his own brand of
stage horror. Following a hiatus where he pursued other interests, he
came forth the Sinister Urge and once again he showed the critics and fans
alike why he was still THE artist to contend with, as if he was never gone.
Finally we have Educated Horses, his newest release and well represented while
on tour with OZZFest and Judas Priest along with his own headlining tour.
What does all of this bring us to? His own Millennium Collection,
unleashed by Universal and compiled by the man himself. It seems as
though this master behind shock rock will not have anything out without his
stamp on it and this is no different as the tracks were picked by him and
produced by Rob as well.
