Gotthard - Domino Effect - Nuclear Blast Who said melodic metal in any sense was dead. Gotthard has just dealt their latest musical affair and it is possibly their best statement yet. After several releases you would think most bands would run out of gas but these guys seem to find more room for inspiration to create melodic passages such as the great Domino Effect which is cruising through my CD player at the moment. This Swiss band represents what was once a thriving Genre in the form of catchy melodic metal but their torch is burning bright as ever, period. Domino Effect is 19 tracks of pure in your face melodic metal, nothing short of a fucking blast here. Steve Lee possesses some amazing pipes, his use of his smooth but yet rough voice sets these guys apart and I am sure owes a portion of their longevity to his vox. The band is pulsating throughout this torrid affair and they have created yet another spellbinding effect for the bands creation. One of the things I like about this disc is that it is just fun to listen to, no urgent political message or that the world is ending in 2 minutes, just a great disc to slap in and blow your speakers out with.
