DevilDriver - The Last Kind Words - Roadrunner

2003 seems like a long time ago but it marked the beginning of  what will be a lifetime of brutality known as DevilDriver.   Giving this record the title of “The Last Kind Words”  gives into their sardonic humor as there are no kind words to be found here.  It is a nice play on words so to speak and anger broods from every note played by these impressive metal fiends.  In my review of “The Fury Of Our Makers Hand”, I said these guys were the next Pantera but with the new disc they have gone beyond their delivery and taken the anger and the talent further than what Pantera did.  Dez Fafara proves, through his lyrics, to be an angry individual.  He speaks his lyrics through a dark and powerful voice that projects long and far with the power of his band ramming them down your throat.  DevilDriver is the voice of a new generation of metal heads and Dez is the obvious leader.  What does DevilDriver have that some of the delusional followers are lacking?  Cohesiveness and writing credibility.  I feel, when I hear Dez sing, that knows of what he speaks and that the band know from where they are drawing the music from.  This record needs to be heard by many and understood by all.
