Blackmore’s Night - Paris Moon - SPV

Paris Moon finds Blackmore’s Night on a beautiful night in Paris, France, totally in love with their sound.   There have been many bands to come along and play old traditional folk inspired music but no one really to bring it to the masses like Blackmore’s night.  If you sit back and close your eyes you forget that it is 2007 and you can be taken back to a time when there was nothing but simplicity.  Ritchie Blackmore, the famed Rainbow/Deep Purple guitar player and one of the innovators of the metal sound, has of course taken a different route in recent years but it is just a different avenue for his massive talents.  The 20 live tracks on this fantastic DVD represent the best of what they have done in their Minstrel career so far and his lovely wife Candice Night fronts the affair perfectly with her stunning voice.  Along with the guitar Ritchie  plays the Mandolin and the Mandola, fleshing out his unique sound even further while being backed by a stellar band.  For the die hard Purple fans there is a wonderful cover of Deep Purple’s Soldier Of Fortune recorded here and Candice adds a completely new meaning to it with her stunning voice.  David Coverdale should be proud of this translation.  Along with this lengthy DVD you have an abbreviated live CD of the performance.  No matter what you listen to, you can find that the sounds created by Blackmore’s Night  to be appealing to the senses if anything else and while you let Candice’s voice take you away from 2007 to 1607.
