Indigo Dying - S/T - Frontiers This is an odd sort of disc. The singer, Gisa Vatcky, has modern overtones, like the new crop of Indy women singers but the music is pure Euro melodic metal. It is an odd combo but is indeed alluring as it has been canvassing my CD player for a week off and on. It was produced by Frontiers mainstay Fabrizio Grossi which has given it that crunchy melodic sheen. The guitars are hypnotic in their sound it just draws you to the riff. The 12 tracks presented here sound nothing like what Frontiers has put out before but that is what is good, different is good. Her voice flows with the music and her band are possibly the most capable at the moment in melodic metal. It is hard to pinpoint where they are coming from but she does duet with the likes of Mark Boals and Michael Kiske which adds another layer to the affair. The name itself, Indigo Dying, is enough to lend to mystery and the album cover is an array of beautiful art that only gives way to the real art encased on the silver disc. This has a swagger of modern hard rock with that 80’s influence, a definite need for your collection. www.frontiers.it CD review by Jeffrey Easton
