NEUROTOXIN – V.S.L. EP – Prison Shank Records by Jon "K" Konjoyan NEUROTOXIN creates ferocious no frills thrash metal with a mean punk attitude. "V.S.L." stands for "Violence as a Second Language” chosen by singer Johnny Toxin, “Because it represents the way we all feel sometimes. How many times a day do you want to rip someone's fucking head off? I usually loose count after 9 a.m.” The bloody skateboard art on the CD cover is a tip-off to the real metal and old school punk roots these guys pay homage to. Descriptive, forceful lyrics serve notice to nay Sayers that NEUROTOXIN is in it to win it. In “Degenerate,” Toxin screams, “It’s vain to try and stop us so you better take our side.” In “Spite” he rants, “Malice inspires drive/igniting the fuel inside/failure dies tonight/ambition grows with pride.” Solid tunes, skilled playing and tight production all around.
