Circle II Circle - Burden Of Truth - Locomotive Zak
Stevens continues to prove that there is indeed life after the death of Savatage
with his third full length under the CIIC banner. Burden Of Truth is a
phenomenal exercise in how well a metal album can be constructed and how great
it can sound. This next installment
in his solo career away from ‘Tage seems
to be a delve in to his psyche and his religious beliefs
amongst other things. The
lyrics just feel deeper than the past releases but that is not a light at the
last 2. The first CIIC is still one of my fav releases so far in the
2000’s and he always delivers extremely quality goods.
Zak could sing the menu at Taco Bell and make it sound incredible due to
his gravely and at the same time silky delivery and range that his voice
possesses. Where as I do miss
Savatage I am glad that we still get to hear this incredible voice and this
incredible band that he has put together to tour with.
The songs do range from the brilliantly heavy opener Who Am I To Be to
the Savatageesque Live As One with a beautiful piano intro, a hallmark of
Zak’s style. So you miss Savatage then you need to jump on this
train because out of all the post Savatage projects that are out there, this one
cannot be beat. 9/10 Jeffrey Easton |
